new, beginning, or novice truck mechanics: get hints on how to find the first job, the difference between dealers, independents, and specialty shops, what tools to buy, anything else.

To all new, beginning, or novice mechanics, see this site for help getting that first job. find out what it's like to work at dealerships, independent shops, and specialty shops. Ask about what tools to buy, or get answers to mechanical problems. You can ask a question as a comment to a blog, or post on a discussion board. If you desire an answer in an Email, just provide your address. All posts are edited, but only for language, so your address won't be posted unless you want it to be. If I don't know the answer I can find it or direct you to someone who can answer it. If it is posted, maybe another reader has an answer.
See the discussion boards for jobs, stuff for sale, vehicle recalls, or just talk.
With school season coming up, hopefully we can get communication going with some new blood. Also check out  http://bigrigtech.blogspot.com/   for technical information on trucks tailored to drivers, but it will also help new mechanics with technical understanding.
